Davon Hatchett, a lawyer in Houston, Texas, specialising in fasion, art, entertainment and the drinks trade, filed documents to trademark the “Wakanda Wine Fest” just three days after the film hit cinemas in the US.

The application, which is listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office, says the trademark would be used for “charitable donation services, namely, providing educational special events, seminars, workshops in the field of wine.”

However, Marvel and Disney could object to the application, having already submitted documents to trademark “Wakanda” for a number of uses, although none were for a wine festival.

Hatchett’s proposed festival would also host wine tastings, food pairings and appearances by industry leaders from winery owners to critics.
