Tiger snake’s balancing act at Tasmanian vineyard goes viral

A venomous snake was captured on camera as it completed a daring balancing act by slithering along the top wire of a fence at a Tasmanian vineyard.

Half way through the endeavour, the snake almost took a tumble.

In a video on Facebook, Bangor Vineyard Shed owner Matt Dunbabin recorded footage of a tiger snake clinging to a wire fence.

Commenting on the post, Dunbabin said that tiger snakes were quite a common site on the estate, but he had never seen one climbing before.

“We see them quite often on the farm, and it is wonderful to have them around. It was definitely a fascinating thing to see – what great poise and balance.

“After I took the video he continued on his merry way, and I guess he climbed back down to the ground when he’d had enough up there.

“Oh, and for those a bit concerned about having to share their next glass of wine, or wedding, with him – don’t worry, this is right down the other end of the farm”.

The post has, to date, been shared over 43,000 times and has received almost 6,000 comments.

One user commented: “Snake no. 1- “I bet you can’t slither along the top wire of that fence.” Snake no. 2- “Hold my Pinot”.

Others commended the snake on its core strength while another user suggested that the snake and his pals were playing a game of ‘the floor is lava’.
