Gymkhana trio to open Indian pub

Jyotin, Karam and Sunaina Sethi, the trio behind some of London’s most exciting restaurants including Bao and Gymkhana, are to open a pub inspired by the army mess bars of India.

Bridgadiers will open at Bloomberg Arcade in the City of London in May and will focus on Indian barbecue dishes, beer and whisky.

The 140-cover site lined with rhino motif tiles will feature a pool table, offer the chance to play classic card games and will air live sports in certain rooms.

On entering the Art Deco-inspired venue you’ll be greeted by Brigadiers’ resident shoe shine attendant, and either be shown to Blighters restaurant, the Tap Room bar or the Pot Luck Room housing a pool table and a whisky vending machine.

A monthly changing list of 10 beers on tap will showcase a range of styles from around the globe. The venue will be collaborating with British breweries on bespoke beers that tip their hat to India, such as 4th Rifles – a citrus-led session pale ale made in collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery.

On-tap cocktails meanwhile, will include a Nitro Espresso Martini, served like a milky stout, and a Buffalo Trace-laced Old Fashioned. Also on the menu will be Art Deco-inspired cocktails, punches and ‘Champagne fountains’.

Brigadiers will showcase a global whisky list split into four styles: ‘Smoky’, ‘Delicate’, ‘Light’ and ‘Rich’. Drams from the whisky vending machine will be available to buy with a pre-paid top up Brigadiers card.

Among the Indian barbecue dishes available in the main restaurant will be chargrilled goat chop korma; tandoori chicken chop dopiaza; awadhi wood roasted skate wing; dry masala rib-eye; and smoked nepali bhutwa lamb ribs.

Jyotin, Karam and Sunaina Sethi’s JKS Restaurants group is behind some of the hottest restaurants in London, including Gymkhana, Trishna, Hoppers, Bao, Xu, Bubbledogs, Lyles and Sabor.
