Wine bar killers may soon be caught thanks to new DNA evidence

DNA evidence found near the Barcelona Wine Bar in north west Atlanta crime scene has brought authorities one step closer to finding the three men who shot and killed a restaurant manager last month.

Chelsea Beller, 29, was shot in the Barcelona Wine Bar where she worked as a manager. CCTV footage shows that three men rushed into the restaurant, tied the employees up with electrical tape, and then forced Beller upstairs to open the safe.

She complied with their demands, but the robbers still shot her in the shoulder before taking off. Beller was rushed to hospital, but she later died from her injuries.

CCTV footage of the attackers was released almost a month ago, but the suspects have still not been apprehended. However, police are one step closer to finding them now that DNA evidence left near the crime scene has been matched with a suspect already on the police database.

The suspects took off in a carjacked vehicle belonging to a Lyft driver. Police officers later found the abandoned car strewn with items including masks and latex clothing.

Blood was also found which is believed to belong to one of the suspects who may have been injured when jumping a razor wire fence.

Police announced on 19 December that the DNA from the evidence matches someone already on their system, which brings them closer to finding the suspect.

Local authorities have a $33,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
