Hedonism Wines and Ollie Dabbous to open Mayfair restaurant

Having closed his eponymous Fitzrovia restaurant in July, chef Ollie Dabbous will open a 250-seater Mayfair site in collaboration with Hedonism Wines next spring.

As reported by Big Hospitality, Dabbous and his mixologist business partner Oskar Kinberg have teamed up with billionaire Russian entrepreneur Yevgeny Chichvarkin, owner of fine wine emporium Hedonism Wines in Mayfair, on the ambitious new project.

Called 85 Piccadilly, the 250-seater Mayfair site is set across three floors within a 1960s building overlooking Green Park. Chichvarkin plans to open a fine dining restaurant with a destination bar.

The site has been on the market for two years with a £9 million lease premium.

Dabbous shot to fame in 2012 when Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler gave it a super-rare five stars in her review, hailing Dabbous as one of the brightest young talents to have emerged in London in years.

Among Dabbous’ signature dishes were coddled free range hen egg with woodland mushrooms served on a bed of hay; fennel, lemon balm and pickled rose petal salad; barbecue pork belly with acorn praline; and beef tartare with cigar oil and rye.

Dabbous also closed his sister restaurant Barnyard on Charlotte Street in January.

This spring Dabbous partnered with the Experimental Group (owners of the Experimental Cocktail Club) on their first London hotel – the Henrietta in Covent Garden – where he oversees the menu. You can find out what db made of Henrietta in our restaurant review.
