Whiskey-based deodorant seeks Kickstarter funding

A US couple is hoping to launch a range of organic deodorants called Pit Liquor made from a base of essential oils and whiskey.

Jason and Erica Feucht of Loveland, Colorado, who run Distilled Bath & Body, came up with the idea for a whiskey-based deodorant when Erica was pregnant, and who no longer “stand the toxic slurry of regular deodorant or the inaction of many natural deodorants.”

“In a moment of desperation, I threw some hand sanitizer on my pits, and viola! An idea was born,” explained Erica. “Not content with “boring” alcohol typically used in body products, Jason wanted to make something unique and fun, so he started making us a deodorant out of whiskey. He started reading medical textbooks about deodorant (yes, really) and he started purchasing teas from weird locations and ordering samples of high-alcohol-content liquors.”

According to the Feucht’s, the whiskey based formula “works because we use incredibly high-alcohol-content (organic) liquor.”

The mix also comprises arrowroot, an antimicrobial powder that keeps underarms dry, and salt to discourage anyone from wanting to drink the concoction.

“Each of our other ingredients is present to help your underarm be a microbiome free of stench-causing bacteria,” the pair explain. “We’ve done over a year of research and trials to figure out the best way to quench your stench and have a little fun with it.”

The couple have since devised three whiskey-based scented deodorants, that include lavender, vanilla and black pepper, and are hoping to raise $12,000 by 22 November via Kickstarter to get their Pit Liquor brand off the ground.
