Rémy Cointreau names new chairman

Rémy Cointreau has appointed Marc Hériard Dubreuil, chairman and CEO of its holding company Andromède, as the new chairman of the board.

Hériard Dubreuil, a member of the Cognac family that has controlled the business since the 1920s, succeeds Francois Hériard Dubreuil, who took over the chairmanship in 2012. Since joining the company in 1984, Marc Hériard Dubreuil has held various positions including chairman of Rémy Martin and Rémy & Associes, CEO of Rémy Cointreau from 1999-2000, and more latterly CEO and Chairman of sister company Oeneo.

Francois Hériard Dubreuil has been appointed vice chairman of the board and will sit on the audit finance committee.

The company is due to release its half-year results on 17 October, after seeing strong first quarter sales, up 9.9% to €240.2 million (US$276m), on the back of strong Cognac gains, db’s sister publication The Spirits Business reported.

Last year, the company saw strong overall sales of liqueur and cognac sales which boosted organic sales of 4.1% to €513.4 million in the first six months of the year, with particularly strong sales in the US. Sales to China, the UK, Russia and Australia also helped the “solid’ overall performance, it said.
