‘Immaculate’ fine wines auctioned to benefit Brazilian charity

A collection of ‘immaculately-stored’ fine wines being sold for the benefit of a children’s charity in Brazil is among the offerings at Sotheby’s next New York sale.

Taking place on 21 October, the “tightly-curated” sale of no more than 300 lots will open with 60 lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including 100 bottles of La Tâche, from a collection that is being sold for the benefit of the Instituto Solidare in Brazil; a charitable foundation that provides access to education, culture and healthcare for children.

Also on sale at the auction are wines from four other “superb” cellars, offering buyers fine and rare wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont and Champagne with vintages spanning the 1980s to 2000s.

Other highlights include: 12-bottle cases of 1990 Château Margaux (US$9,500-14,000), six bottles of 1962 Vega Sicilia ‘Unico’ ($5,000-6,500), a Jeroboam of 2004 La Romanée from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair ($5,000-7,000), a 12-bottle case of 1999 Chablis Valmur from Domaine Ravenau ($2,600-3,500), a 12-bottle case of 1982 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande ($4,500-6,500) and four bottles of 1985 Ruchottes Chambertin, Clos des Ruchottes from Domaine Armand Rousseau ($2,800-3,800).
