Beertopia returns to HK with biggest local craft beer showcase

Beertopia, Hong Kong’s biggest annual craft beer festival, is returning to the city on 22 and 23 September, showcasing the largest number of local beers since its launch in 2012.

More than 500 different beers from around the world will be on pour at the Central Harbourfront. Among them, 87 beers are locally brewed, which is the widest selection of local beers ever featured at the festival, said the organiser of the event, highlighting Hong Kong’s expanding craft beer scene.

Last year, only 14 local breweries participated alongside craft beers from around the world, according to HKTDC.

“When I started the festival five years ago, there were no other craft beer events, and the awareness was so low. In the subsequent years, I’m so happy to see craft beer really take off, with regular people knowing about it and drinking it. I really hope everyone can find a beer they love!” commented Jonathan So, founder of Beertopia.

In addition to the wide local beer showcase, this year, the festival also debuted a ‘Cider Area’ and a ‘Beer Geek Area’.

25 of the city’s restaurants will be offering their signature dishes to pair with beers.
