The week in pictures

The Benevolent’s bike ride in memory of Dan Townsend, took place on Sunday and raised over £13,000. Riders travelled from Ridgeview Wine Estate in Sussex to Treasury Wine’s headquarters in Twickenham.

Riders had breakfast, complete with English sparkling wine, before embarking on the 100km route towards London. The route took them via Box Hill, Leith HIll and Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey. The group was welcomed at their arrival in Twickenham by Dan’s wife, Mel Townsend and his daughter Rose together with a crowd of friends and family members.

The sun was shining as db‘s Chloé Beral and sb‘s Núria Puertos Ahuir travelled to William Grant & Sons UK’s Highland Festival in Haggerston Park. Returning for the third consecutive year, the event saw the UK’s top bartenders battle it out to win a highly-coveted trip to Berlin. This year, the Monkey Shoulder team came out on top.

Chloé and Núria were treated to some amazing food served up by Belpassi Bros as well as Disaronno sours from the Disaronno Terrace bar.

Bodega La Geria on the island of Lanzarote took part in its annual traditional harvest festival during which guests are invited to take part in the treading of the grapes that the camels carry in.

Not your average wine tasting! In a tweet, Ataraxia Wines – based in the Walker Bay wine region of South Africa – posted “Herve from Marriott Wine Shop in Durban about to taste through the new Ataraxia vintages with side-kick Thula”.

Another South African winery, Olifantsberg Wines based in the Breede River Valley, posted this stunning picture on Twitter this week showing staff hard at work nurturing the Syrah vines.

PGA golf professional Paul O’Hara won the St Andrews Brewing Company’s 36 hole event, as part of the Order of Merit 36 hole series on this season’s Tartan Tour, in a course record.
