Santa Rita garden wins Gold at Ireland’s Bloom-in-the-Park

Chilean wine estate Viña Santa Rita has taken home a gold medal for its ‘Living Oasis’ by Santa Rita ‘Living La Vida 120’ show garden at Bord Bia’s 2017 Bloom-in-the-Park, held at Phoenix Park Dublin in Ireland.

The “exotic” garden was designed by explained Kevin Dennis

This is the third consecutive year that Santa Rita has participated at Bloom, and the second year that their Living La Vida 120 Garden has achieved a Gold medal.

More than 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the show gardens over the next five days, with the Santa Rita Garden intended to highlight the wine producer’s 120 brand and its values of sustainability, culture and heritage. New to its garden entry for for 2017 is a “VIP Tasting area”, where 120 visitors to the show can win the opportunity to participate in a personalised Santa Rita 120 tasting session in a bespoke container overlooking the garden.

“Our horticultural link goes back to the Santa Rita estate in Alto Jahuel, Chile where our beautiful Casa Real manor house and 40 hectare park is found,” said Terry Pennington, Santa Rita commercial director for Europe.

“The house, after which our legendary award winning wine Casa Real is labelled, is surrounded by wonderful ornate gardens and parklands which are regularly opened up to the public, schools and local communities. Santa Rita is steeped in tradition both in terms of their garden and viticultural history, their contemporary and progressive approach to winemaking is reflected in both the outstanding wines they produce and the modern approach to the ‘Santa Rita Living la Vida’ garden. Kevin has done a fantastic job this year and we are all very proud of his achievements.”

The “exotic” garden was designed with a “primitive feel” in mind, as a space to escape and retreat to, with a white pavilion at its heart.

“The garden was created to demonstrate how an oasis of calm can be achieved in the hectic lifestyle of urban living,” explained Kevin Dennis, who designed the Santa Rita garden.

“The ‘Living Oasis’ by Santa Rita ‘Living La Vida 120”’ garden celebrates how outdoor spaces should be cherished and how they can make peoples moments special.”

Bord Bia’s Bloom event, Ireland’s largest gardening, food and family festival, will take place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin from Thursday 1 June – Monday 5 June.
