Hong Kong importer Kedington takes on Fritz Haag

Hong Kong importer Kedington Wines has taken on Fritz Haag, the famed Riesling producer from Mosel in Germany, for the local market.

Starting from next month, five of the 412-year-old winery’s Rieslings, including its entry-level Riesling, Brauneberger Riesling Trocken J, Brauneberger Juffer Riesling, Brauneberger Riesling Kabinett and Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese, will be available in Hong Kong.

The Brauneberger Riesling Kabinett was named ‘best wine in show’ at last year’s Chinese wine competition Wine 100 Challenge, beating nearly 800 participants.

The winery, which gained international acclaim under the skilled hand of Wilhelm Haag, is now led by Wilhelm’s son, Oliver. The family’s vineyards lie at the core of the middle Mosel, including the world-renowned Brauneberger Juffer and Braunenberger Juffer Sonnenuhr sites.

“We are proud to be represented in Hong Kong by the prestigious importer Kedington. Fritz Haag and Kedington are both family businesses with a long tradition; sharing the same passion for high quality, consistency, and loyal and close cooperation. In Kedington we have found a representative who values what we do – who recognises that wine is not just a product to us, it is our life’s work,” commented Oliver Haag on the partnership.

“Since the first time I tasted Fritz Haag, I’ve held the wines in the highest regard, as I do know the family behind them. It is a privilege for us to share these wines with the Hong Kong market,” said Monica Cheung, managing director of Kedington Wines.
