From the New Zealand Food and Wine Connection 2017 event to Domaine Schlumberger’s latest 2014 releases, we round up this week’s drinks trade highlights in Hong Kong.

Alain Beydon, president and CEO of Domaine Schlumberger in Alsace, introduces his latest 2014 vintage in Hong Kong market including Schlumberger Riesling ‘Les Princes Abbes’, Schlumberger Riesling Grand Cru ‘Saering’, Schlumberger Gewurtzraminer ‘Les Princes Abbes’, Schlumberger Pinot Gris ‘Les Princes Abbes’. The vintner also recalled February’s prolonged ‘black frost’ that damaged vineyards in the region.

Tom French of Crown Range Cellar was at the New Zealand Food and Wine Connection event organised by New Zealand Winegrowers at Seafood Room on 25 May. The vintner was showcasing a Pinot Noir called ‘China Girl’.

Also spotted at the New Zealand Food and Wine Connection event was Haysley MacDonald, director of te Pā Vineyards in Marlborough.

Nik Mavromatis of Thomas Family Wines in Waipara Valley says sales of its Greystone wines multiplied by five times after Chinese president Xi Jinping drank the wine on his visit to New Zealand three years ago.

John Nugent has joined Lily & Bloom as its head mixologist with a slew of new summer concoctions including the ‘English Milk Punch’ ($115) pictured above, a popular boozy, creamy and sweet cocktail popular among aristocrats and socialites back in the 1700s. Nugen’s new creations are available at Lily & Bloom in Central from 22 May onwards.
