Rhône and Burgundy lead ‘bijou’ London sale

Sotheby’s is holding a “bijou” fine wine sale in London this month featuring a collection of top Rhône and Burgundy.

Taking place on 17 May, the auction includes a strong allocation of perennial sales favourite Domaine de la Romanée-Conti with assorted cases of the 1990, 2000, 2009 and 2010 vintages from the domaine’s various holdings, as well as a bottle of the 1966 Romanée-Conti and a Jeroboam of 1990 La Tâche.

The Burgundy consignment is further bolstered by lots of Rousseau’s 1999 Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques and 1999 Chambertin, Roumier’s 2002 Bonnes Mares and Chambolle Musigny les Amoreuses and white Burgundy from Coche-Dury.

Domaine du Pegau’s Cuvée da Capo 1998 and 2000 will be representing the Rhône and there is top-drawer Bordeaux in the form of 2000 Mouton Rothschild, 1990 Haut-Brion and the 1989, 1999 and 2001 vintages of Carruades de Lafite.

‘Drinking’ claret such as 2000 Clerc Milon, 2002 Beychevelle and 2005 Léoville Poyferré will also be on offer.

The auction also includes a “sprinkling” of Sauternes, Champagne and whisky. The full list can be seen here.
