Bancroft Wines partners with Joseph Perrier

London-based Bancroft Wines has announced its partnership with Joseph Perrier, representing the Champagne house in the capital and seeking out ‘regional opportunities’ in the UK.

Jean-Claude Fourmon, managing director and fourth-generation owner of Champagne Joseph Perrier.

Bancroft Wines, currently based in Bermondsey, will act as agent for Joseph Perrier ‘within the M25 area’ and has stated that ‘it will also feed into regional opportunities where there is currently no representation in place.’

Bancroft already represents three grower Champagne houses in the UK: Pinot Meunier specialists Champagne Gratiot Pillièt, Pierre Paillard Grand Cru Champagne in Bouzy, and Pierre Moncuit in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The addition of Joseph Perrier, however, is the company’s first Grand Marque portfolio listing.

Neil McAndrew, managing director of Bancroft Wines commented: “We have been actively seeking Grande Marque representation to complement our established grower offering and strengthen our champagne category.

“This rare opportunity has arisen to align our company values and work in partnership with Joseph Perrier in the market to build on the current sales and distribution.”

Jean-Claude Fourmon, managing director and fourth-generation owner of Champagne Joseph Perrier, added: “As a family business we are sensitive to how our partners work all around the world and it is important to us they also have a personal style of working.

“Both our companies have been looking for a partner for a while now and I feel this is a most positive outcome. Having met the wonderful Bancroft team I am very happy they are now becoming part of the story of Champagne Joseph Perrier.”

Although it will distribute the entire range, Bancroft will initially focus on six of the styles: Cuvée Royale Brut NV, Cuvée Royale Brut Rosé NV, Cuvée Royale Blanc de Blancs NV, Cuvée Royale Blanc de Noirs Vintage Brut Nature 2009, Cuvée Royale Brut Vintage 2008 and Cuvée Josephine 2008.

Commenting on the partnership, Martin Gamman MW, UK director for Joseph Perrier said: “We are delighted to be working with Bancroft Wines. They make excellent partners for us because they share our approach to the market, they understand and appreciate our philosophy and fit into our existing model here in the UK while having the desire and drive to build long-term business together.”
