Top 10 cracking Easter cocktails

From mini-egg martinis to refreshing springtime alternatives, db takes you through a selection of eggcellent Easter cocktails to try over the break.

Whether you’re looking to indulge or try your utmost not to give in to temptation, we have rounded up a selection of cocktails to suit all tastes.

With Lent finally coming to an end, what better way to celebrate than with a boozy Easter treat. They may even help to use up leftover eggs, if you haven’t gobbled them all up already.

Absolut Mini-Egg Martini

The Absolut Mini-Egg Martini combines Absolut vanilla, Baileys, double cream, chocolate sauce and, of course mini-eggs.

The creamy concoction uses the chocolate eggs, encased in a hard candy shell, to add extra texture to the indulgent Easter treat.

Pick up one at London’s Bar Soho, Foundation and Forge or try your hand at making your own. The perfect excuse to buy more Easter eggs!

Path of the Rose

Described as a ‘light, floral and delicate’ cocktail, Path of Rose provides an alternative to the lashings of cream and chocolate that feature in abundance at Easter.

To make the cocktail:

Add ice to a cocktail shaker
Pour in 40ml Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin, 20ml Rose Liqueur, 20ml Elderflower Cordial and shake.
Strain into a coupe glass and top with 80ml of prosecco.

 

The Maltease, Chocolate Martini and White Rabbit

This trio of chocolatey treats will be available at Dirty Martini from now until 30 April.

Maltease (right)  pairs Havana 3yr Rum with Mozart white chocolate vanilla cream and coconut water and maple syrup; Nutella and Ovaltine are used to created the malt chocolate flavour of Malteasers.

The Chocolate Martini (centre) combines Absolut vanilla vodka, Briottet crème de cacao and Frangelico with double cream and chocolate powder.

Finally, White Rabbit (right) teams Solerno blood orange and Morgan’s spiced rum with crème de cacao, caramel syrup, mascarpone and Aztec dark chocolate bitters.

Feeney’s Espresso Martini

One to try at home, Feeney’s expresso martini mixes the coffee-laden classic with decadent hit of cream.
To make the martini:
Add ice to a cocktail shaker.
Pour in 30ml Feeney’s Irish Cream Liqueur, 20ml espresso coffee and 20ml premium vodka.
Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with three coffee beans.

The Aster Egg cocktail

Mixologists at London’s Aster will be serving up the Aster Egg cocktail this Easter, a blend of Diplomatico reserva rum with Mozart dark chocolate liqueur, aztec bitter chocolate, milk and sugar. The cocktail is served in a hollow milk chocolate egg, the perfect way to soak up the rum.

Aster Egg is available from 3 – 17 April for £18 a pop.

Spring Blossom

Head mixologist of Pennethorne’s Bar at Somerset House, Deena Versanszki, created the recipe for this sweet, fruity and floral cocktail. Garnished with a slice of cucumber, Spring Blossom is a welcome refreshment after all the chocolate.

Method:

Pour 50ml Bloom Gin, 25ml Rose Liqueur, 10ml Strawberry Liqueur and 10ml Agave Nectar (optional) into a cocktail shaker.
Shake and strain into a rocks glass or tumbler over ice.
Garnish with a cucumber slice.

Bueno

Bueno, available at Be at One bars across the country, combines the milky Kinder Bueno chocolate bar with Mozart white chocolate liqueur, salted caramel Kahlua and vanilla ice cream.

To make your own, simply stick all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth, pour into a tall glass and garnish with a Kinder Bueno.

Spring Spritz

Spring Spritz, a zesty and vibrant chocolate substitute mixes Beefeater gin, Triple Sec, Absolut citron vodka, elderflower cordial and soda water.

The Spring-time sipper will be available at London’s Bar Soho, Foundation and Forge.

The Bee’s Knees

The Bee’s Knees combines honey and lemon with juniper-led and slightly savoury Thomas Dakin gin, which lists horseradish as one of its eleven botanicals.

To make the cocktail:

In a shaker stir 2 tsp of honey with 35ml of Thomas Dakin gin until dissolved
Then add 25ml of lemon juice
Add ice to the cocktail shaker and either shake or stir.
Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a thin orange wheel float.

 

 

Spring in your Step

The berry-forward Spring in your Step teams Bacardi Oro with Absolut raspberry vodka, Chambord, cranberry juice, fresh raspberries and ginger ale. Available at London’s Bar Soho, Foundation and Forge, you can convince yourself that you’re going for the healthy option this Easter.
