Bacardi names new CEO

Bacardi Limited has confirmed that Mahesh Madhavan will take over from Michael Dolan as its new CEO as of April 2018, following Dolan’s retirement.

Mahesh Madhavan, a 20-year Bacardi veteran, is currently a member of the company’s global leadership team and regional president of Asia, Middle East & Africa.

Dolan will step down from the role of chief executive officer in April 2018, when Madhavan will take over.

In the interim, Dolan will continue as CEO, while Madhavan will transition to a new role as regional president of Europe for much of 2017. He will be based in Geneva until he assumes the CEO role, at which time he is expected to move to the company’s global headquarters in Bermuda.

Dolan will continue to serve on the Bacardi Limited Board of Directors until the 2019 AGM, when he will retire from the company.

As a long-time Bacardi executive, Mahesh has the ideal mix of leadership skills, commercial, operational and financial expertise, and global brands experience.”

Madhavan currently leads the company’s Asia, Middle East & Africa operations, however he has previously held roles within various emerging markets including managing director of India, managing director for Thailand and the Philippines, and managing director of South Asia and Southeast Asia. He has also led the company’s Emerging Market Council.
