Bancroft Wines appoints former Hallgarten director for new role

UK wine importer Bancroft Wines has appointed Hallgarten Druitt & Novum’s former commercial director Susan Harper to head up its sales and marketing teams.

Harper has joined the company in the new role of sales & marketing director, and is set to play a key role in boosting the company’s position in established markets, strengthening current customer relationships and developing relationships with new customers, Bancroft Wines’ managing director Neil McAndrew said.

Harper left Hallgarten Druitt & Novum Wines in early 2015, after four years with the company. Her most recent role was in headed up its regional sales team and independent strategy as commercial director, a role she was promoted to in 2014. Prior to this, she was at Hatch Mansfield, and has also worked for Goedhuis, Percy Fox and Swig.

McAndrew said he was excited to welcome Harper to the senior team, pointing out her proven track record in the development of successful sales teams.

“She is very well respected within the industry and will be a major driving force behind our medium and long term growth plans as well as a key figure in the nurturing of our current customer base,” he said.
Bancroft Wines’ customers include fine-dining and Michelin-starred restaurants, casual dining restaurants, gastro-pubs, restaurant groups, independent retail outlets and regional merchants.

Last November, the company boosted its on-trade, fine wine teams to strengthen its position to meet growth targets following a “record breaking” year, as well as appointing a new head of purchasing, and financial controller.

The company was founded by the late Adam Bancroft MW in 1990, with 2015 marking its 25th anniversary.
