FKA Twigs fronts Veuve Clicquot campaign

Performing artist FKA Twigs is to front the second instalment of Veuve Clicquot’s Widow Series – a series of art exhibitions which pay homage to its founder Madame Clicquot.

Madame Clicquot, who founded Veuve Clicquot, was famously widowed in October 1805. She single-handedly took on her late husband’s Champagne business and went on to grow the company into the global brand it is today.

The Veuve Clicquot Widow Series (with Veuve meaning Widow in French), is held annually and is intended to pay tribute to Madame Clicquot’s pioneering spirit through art.

This year’s exhibition is particularly poignant as it marks 150 years since Madame Clicquot’s death.

FKA Twigs Widow installation, named ‘Rooms’, will launch with a private view on Wednesday, 26 October and will comprise performance art, set design, theatre, costume and dance, performed by a cast of 30 across 12 rooms.

“Many of Madame Clicquot’s defining attributes as a figure of female strength and innovation are reflected in FKA twigs work and aesthetic, making for the perfect partnership”, said Clicquot in a release announcing the exhibition.

“In line with Veuve Clicquot’s continual fostering of partnerships with creative luminaries to produce the ultimate Halloween experience, global management agency  Streeters will be bringing the event to life through their roster of set designers.”

Artists involved in Rooms include Gary Card, who has made elaborate headpieces for Lady Gaga, and David White, the iconic set designer whose recent work includes Calvin Klein’s spring/summer 2016 campaign

“Introducing an innovative artist such as FKA twigs to the mix deepens and broadens an already rich collaboration with endless exciting possibilities”, said White of his involvement.

The public will be able to view Rooms on 27 and 28 October, with tickets on sale today. For more information visit www.veuveclicquotwidowseries.co.uk
