DRC headlines Bonhams’ results

A case of 1988 Romanée-Conti from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti led the line-up at Bonhams recent London sale.

Taking place on 15 September, the sale made £886,961 overall, with the case of Romanée-Conti alone realising £117,500.

A case of the same wine was likewise the star lot at the auctioneer’s most successful fine wine sale, which took place this July.

A case of 2001 Petrus was the second leading lot making (in comparison) a rather tame £18,800, while 2009 and 2010 Latour, Lafite and Cheval Blanc made up the bulk of the other top 10 lots.

Bonhams international director of wine, Richard Harvey MW, said: “This was a highly successful sale right across the board. It featured the final tranche of a large private collection from Bordeaux.

“This collection brought the total up to more than £1.5 million against an estimate £1-1.25 million, showing how the market has moved upwards during the course of the year.”

Bonhmas’ next fine wine sale will be on 27 October.
