The deal will cover both the 2016 and 2017 tournaments and will highlight Viña Maipo’s brand Vitral with visual material on courts, at various media outlets and in the tournament’s official program.

Viña Maipo’s Reserva Vitral line, as the official wine of the competition, will also be served to attendees to the event.

“Without a doubt this will be an alliance that will benefit all, uniting two great worlds: international tennis and Chilean wine,” said Felipe Rossel, marketing manager of Quinta de Maipo, which owns Viña Maipo.

Founded in 1948, Viña Maipo’s vineyards are located in Chile’s Maipo, Rapel, Maule and Casablanca wine regions. Japan is the producer’s biggest importer of Viña Maipo’s Reserva Vitral, which is one of the top five premium wine brands consumed in the country.

The Rakuten Japan Open –better known as the Tokyo Tournament– is the oldest ATP 500 professional tennis competition in Asia, held for the first time in 1972.

It is held every year in the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo and in 2016 will take place between October 3 to 9.
