Distiller and brewer launch hop-infused gin

Cornish brewer Sharp’s and Tarquin’s Gin have teamed up to produce a limited edition hop-flavoured gin called The Hopster.

Three types of hops were used to create the gin – Crystal, Cascade and Pilot – which were distilled along with the original blend of botanicals for Tarquin’s Cornish Gi  in ‘Tamara’, Southwestern Distillery’s flame-fired copper still.

Less than 300 bottles of the 42% abv gin have been produced, packaged with dark blue branding in a nod to Sharp’s and Tarquin’s trademark dripped wax seal.

“The infusion of hops and gin is a unique combination, and it is the first collaboration of its kind for both Sharp’s and Tarquin’s”, said Ed Hughes, beer sommelier at Sharp’s Brewery.

“With Tarquin’s Gin, we’ve created an exquisite gin that pays homage to beer drinkers and is incredibly smooth and aromatic. The exceptional blend of traditional dry gin complements the distinctive hoppy notes that you would normally expect from an ale.”

Tarquin Leadbetter, head distiller and founder of Tarquin’s described the limited edition gin as “intense, aromatic and beautifully complex”, adding that the result was “even better than we were expecting.”

‘The Hopster’ is on the bar at The Mariners Public House in Rock, and bottles are available to buy from the Sharp’s Brewery shop and via www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk/shop (whilst stocks last). It will be available to the on-trade for a limited period only.
