Wines of Argentina to launch HK wine course

A new educational wine programme will launch in July in Hong Kong, hosted by Wines of Argentina and the Open University of Hong Kong.

The comprehensive 30-hour programme will expose students to specialist knowledge regarding Argentine wines, including the geographical characteristics of Argentina, its styles and varieties of wines and commercial activities of its key wine estates.

Through lectures and wine tasting, in-class discussions and group projects,  the programme is a combination of theory and practice, and will culminate in a Certificate of Argentine Wines for those who complete the course and pass the examination.

The course will be led by Jennifer Luk, one of Hong Kong’s most prominent wine educators in Argentine Wine and a recent judge of the Argentina Wine Awards 2016.

It will be priced at HK$6,500 per programme.

An official signing agreement will take place during Vinexpo today at the Wines of Argentina Pavilion.

Argentina is Hong Kong’s ninth biggest wine importing country but saw its volume drop from 90,000 to 80,000 cases between 2010 and 2014 despite an increasing number of Argentine restaurants which have flourished in the city.
