Riesling Weeks returns to Hong Kong

The fourth edition of Wines of Germany’s Riesling Weeks will once again highlight Germany’s prized grape and its steady increase in popularity among HK’s wine drinkers.

This year’s German
Wine Princess from Rheingau, Katarina Fladung

According to Vinexpo’s recently commissioned research, Germany is now the eight largest wine importer in Hong Kong and grew impressively by 37% in volume between 2010 and 2014.

Wines of Germany will again host its fourth annual Riesling Weeks celebration throughout June with this year’s German Wine Princess and Riesling ambassador, Katarina Fladung who will host a walkaround tasting on 30 May at Hotel Icon in Tsim Sha Tsui.

German Wine Queens and Princesses are global ambassadors of German wine. Each year, the 13 Germany wine regions elect their own regional wine queens, who will then compete for the title ‘German Wine Queen’ and ‘German Wine Princess’ the following year.

Hong Kong’s on-trade is set to be more heavily involved this year with Aberdeen Street Social, Alibi, Brozeit German, Bar + Restaurant, Schnee German Restaurant and Nordic speciality venue, FINDS pairing Riesling with different European cuisine and a host of Thai, Sichuan, Beijingese and Shanghainese restaurants demonstrating how Riesling can suit Asian dishes.

Tickets for the walk-around tasting range from HK$240 to HK$380 per person. For a full list of participating restaurants, please click here.
