Suckling pig flown in from France, a Haut-Brion tasting with Ginsberg+Chan and horsing around at the Longines Masters with Barons de Rothschild Champagne – it’s dbHK’s week in pictures.

dbK’s new home! Our office is based two minutes from Aberdeen’s bustling promenade, filled with sampans, fishing boats and most importantly, excellent seafood and dim sum restaurants…

Next stop was a visit to Serge et le Phoque, a natural wine bistro next to Wan Chai’s market which scooped its first Michelin star last year. Manager, Charles Pelletier and sommelier, Manon Barthe hosted a cosy wine dinner, with this whole suckling piggy delight taking centre stage – apologies in advance, any vegetarians.

A stand-out bottle was this 2014 Les Terres Blanches from Domaine Dupasquier et Fils’ 10 hectare plot in Nuits-Saint-George and delighted everyone’s taste buds with its lees-y, buttery and zesty mineral notes.

dbHK paid a visit to Tartine, a new venture by Philippe Orrico behind On Dining, Upper Modern Bistro and Picnic on Forbes, and Pont des Arts’ Arthur de Villepin. The wine list also included an impressive by glass selection, including perennial favourite, Barons de Rothschild’s brut.

Overall favourites? “The room was pretty split between the 1997 and 1984 with the intense and acid driven 1997 edging out the more oxidized and full 1984,” said G+C’s communication & events manager, Lauren McPhate.

The week culminated with the 2016 Longines Masters at AsiaWorld-Expo, the  largest showjumping event in the world. Germany’s Marco Kutscher scooped top prize in the Longines Grand Prix,  as well as netting prize money of HK$3 million and €250,00.

dbHK was also lucky enough to enjoy the Champagne Barons de Rothschild hospitality and watch the event, and dbHK’s Lucy is pictured with Fabrice Papin, Asia area manager, Jonathan Mather, general manager of ASC Fine Wines and Frederic Mairesse, CEO of Champagne Barons de Rothschild.
