DFS Singapore scoops Whisky Ambassador award

Changi Airport’s DFS has been awarded the Whisky Ambassador Venue Accreditation for its single malt staff training programme.

The newly-qualified DFS Changi Whisky Ambassadors

The DFS flagship store in Changi currently carries 110 single malts from 50 brands – making it the largest collection of single malts for the travel retail sector in the Asia Pacific. It also features a tasting bar – in emulation of the Long Bar at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel and hosts guided tastings and masterclasses on mixology.

The UK-based Whisky Ambassador group has awarded the store its first Venue Accreditation, in recognition of the store’s staff training programme for travel retail and is part of the DFS Group’s and the Whisky Ambassador’s strategy to roll out the regional training programme to DFS’ other travel retail stores in the Asia Pacific.

Brooke Supernaw, the DFS Group’s senior vice president for spirits, wine and tobacco commented: “We are honored to be the first travel retail company in the world to receive The Whisky Ambassador’s Venue Accreditation and we’re confident that this certification will allow us to deliver an incredible customer experience that educates and inspires.

“Whisky requires a deep level of knowledge to educate the customer on differences in production techniques, flavor profiles, regions of origin as well as growing trends such as Japanese and Taiwanese whiskies. Now that our sales associates are certified Whisky Ambassadors, customers can be confident that whether they are whisky novices or connoisseurs, DFS will provide the highest level of service to meet their needs.”
