Birmingham to host English wine tasting

Birmingham will host its first ever English wine trade and press tasting next Monday.

Taking place on 18 January at the city’s Hotel du Vin, the event is the first dedicated press and trade event to be held in the city and follows on from a successful consumer event conducted last summer.

Julia Trustam Eve head of marketing body English Wine Producers (EWP), commented: “English wine is on the rise – in production, sales and consumer engagement. With demand from across the country we want to make English wines feature more prominently outside the South East heartland.

“Birmingham is a fantastic market, with a thriving food and drink culture and therefore the ideal location for a trade event.

“This is a great opportunity for more of the trade in the region to get to know English wine.”

“Last summer we were involved in a fantastic consumer event in Birmingham which attracted over 100 wine fans from the Midlands and received some great feedback”.

Producers from across the country will attend the tasting and another 40 will return this May for the return of the ‘English Wine Takeover’ consumer event at The Bond in Digbeth.
