Dewar’s launches KL airport pop-up

John Dewar & Sons has arrived in Kuala Lumpur international airport, courtesy of a seasonal collaboration with Bacardi and Malaysian travel retailer The Zon Duty Free.

Passengers disembarking in the international arrivals hall can try six single malts, Aberfeldy 21, 18 and 12-year-old, Glen Deveron 30, 20 and 16-year-old as well as several age statements from Dewar’s own range including the Signature, and 18, 15 and 12-year-old.

Bacardi believes Malaysia is an “up and coming market” for premium spirits, due to a growing proportion of shoppers who are looking for luxury brands and seek different expressions to suit their personal taste.

Dewar’s brand ambassadors are also on hand to guide customers through tutored tastings for them to discover their particular favoured malt.

Bacardi Global Travel Retail company’s regional director for Asia-Pacific and MEA, Irving Holmes Wong, says: “Malt shoppers are showing tremendous enthusiasm for this Emporium experience.”

Chuah Teck Tiong, general manager of The Zon Duty Free also commented: “There’s no doubt that the John Dewar & Sons Fine Whisky Emporium is a great footfall driver to our arrivals store.

“Pop-ups add intrigue and invite exploration and we’re pleased to see the sales impact it is having on the whisky category as a whole.”
