Yoga company launches craft beer

Craft beer has expanded its reach into the seemingly incongruous world of yoga, with one global fitness company announcing the launch of its own beer this week.

Marrying craft beer with fitness, an unlikely duo, Vancouver-based clothing company Lululemon has unveiled its very own beer brewed in partnership with Stanley Park Brewing, also based in Vancouver.

Named Curiosity Lager, the beer has been made using chinook and lemon drop hops to create a “crisp, bold beer”.

It will commemorate the 2015 SeaWheeze Half Marathon and Sunset Festival, which will take place on on 23 August, when the limited edition beer will be served in an on-site beer garden.

Partial proceeds from the sale of the beer will go toward the Stanley Park Ecology Society, which promotes environmental awareness and respect for the natural world.

“We both share a deep hometown pride in our forest-in-the-city, Stanley Park and a unbridled enthusiasm for cold beer after a sweaty run on the Seawall,” the company said of the launch.

About 88,000 cans are expected to be produced as part of a limited run, which will be available later this month in liquor stores across Canada.
