Burgundy headlines at Acker’s June HK auction

Featuring smaller-sized lots as well as larger parcels of classic vintages of Burgundy and Bordeaux, Acker, Merrall & Condit’s second Connoisseur’s Club will offer Asia collectors what the auction house describes as “the best of France, Europe and Beyond.”

Following its first Connoisseur’s Club sale in April, Acker’s June auction which will take place on Thursday, 25 June at the JW Marriott.

Including eight bottles of Liger-Belair’s 2008 Golden Dragon Collection bottled solely for the Asia market and estimated between HK$ 44000-60000, the sale also highlights six bottles of 1996 La Tache at HK$96,000-HK$128,000 and six bottles of 1991 Grands Échézeaux (pictured) for HK$64,000-HK$96,000.

Elsewhere, bidders can vie for nine vintages of Haut Brion, 1966 Lafleur, key 1945, 1961, 1964 and 1966 vintages of Latour, magnums of the iconic 1993 Mouton Balthus Label and 1962 Romanee Conti.

Acker’s June auction comes after its successful New York sale, which placed the auction house in the lead of the US market.

Chairman, John Kapon commented:

“It is a great feeling of satisfaction to be number one in the US market, where the story of Acker Merrall all began back in 1820.

“By the time the end of next week rolls around, we will have done five live auctions in New York and also five live auctions in Hong Kong in addition to adding monthly internet auctions in Hong Kong this year and launching our first app.

“Looking back on these past six months, it seems like a dream, but what we have accomplished is no illusion. We are already looking ahead, and forward, to an equally exciting fall season.”
