Bacardi Legacy contenders from HK and Sg chosen

Devender Kumar from Otto e Mezzo in Hong Kong and Peter Chua from 28 HongKong Street in Singapore will represent their respective cities at the Bacardi Legacy competition.

The two will now compete in the grand finals taking place in Sydney this May alongside 33 other competitors.

Kumar triumphed on the back of his specially designed cocktail “The Optimist” (pictured), while Chua came through with his “Sugar Man”.

David Cordoba, a leading global bartender, former Bacardi Global Brand Ambassador and one of the competition’s judges, said after Chua’s win in Singapore: “It is incredible to see an amazing talent from Singapore. In the last few years, the development and professionalism of the young talented bartenders have been absolutely incredible.

“I can see that Singapore is, at the moment, in the running to become one of the best cocktail scenes in the world.”

The competition aims to find the next Bacardi-inspired cocktail that might become a “legacy” drink in the vein of the Mojito, Daiquiri or Pina Colada.
