Harry Styles plans ‘upscale plonk’

Popstar Harry Styles is said to be considering buying a vineyard in California with the intention of producing an “upscale plonk”.

The One Direction heartthrob recently turned 21 and has reportedly been looking at vineyards for sale in Santa Barbara with plans to produce his own wine.

According to the Daily Star, a guest at Harry’s birthday party in Los Angeles revealed the popstar’s ambitions saying: “He was talking animatedly about buying a vineyard in the Santa Barbara area where Paul McCartney owns a big property. Becks was giving him plenty of advice and it was obvious he was the one who planted the idea in Harry’s head.”

David Beckham already owns a small estate in California’s Napa Valley.

According to The Daily Star’s source, Harry has “told members of his financial team in LA” to try and find “small or medium-sized vineyards”.

The source added: “This is a project he’s really keen on pursuing solo but he has said that if the other lads in the band want to jump on board he’d be willing to consider that too. But I think he has his heart set on having his own brand of upscale plonk, like a lot of other stars these days.”

The source even suggested that Harry was keen on the name Styles Winery believing it to be “classy”, adding that it was anything but a “gimmick”.

If Styles does make a purchase, he would join a number of celebrities that own vineyards including Angelina Jolie and Brad pitt, who have achieved great success with wines produced at their Château Miraval estate in Provence, Drew Barrymore, Antonia Bandaras and Madonna.

According to the British tabloid, Jay-Z and Beyoncé are also looking to invest in a Californian vineyard.

Could the power couple be considering a move into the world of wine?
