Fashion designer Posen moves into wine

American fashion designer Zac Posen is to design a bespoke wine label for Trento-based Italian wine company Ecco Domani.

As reported by PdNews, the New York-born designer has collaborated with the winery on a bespoke label for the latest vintage of its Pinot Grigio, made from grapes grown in Alto Adige, the Veneto and Friuli.

“I’ve dressed many people in my life, but never a bottle of wine. This is an exciting project because it weaves together my work as a fashion designer and my passion for food, cooking and entertaining,” Posen said.

“The design will reflect the bright, floral qualities of the wine, giving any table a stylish, refreshing look,” he added.

The wine is due to go on sale this summer with an RRP of $10.99.

“Zac is bringing the modern sophistication and glamour he’s known for on the runway to everyday occasions,” Courtney O’Brien, marketing director for Ecco Domani, said.

Founded in 1996, in addition to Pinot Grigio, Ecco Domain produces Pinot Noir, Merlot and Moscato, all of which are bottled in Trento.

The brand name means “Here’s Tomorrow” in Italian. Posen gained a degree in womenswear from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2001.
