Around the Grounds in 14 days: Day 8

The chairman of drinks charity The Benevolent visited 16 grounds over the weekend as part of his ongoing fundraising challenge, travelling for more than 300 miles despite battling a punctured tyre.

On Saturday the intrepid chairman set off from Tranmere Rovers making it first to the stadium of Liverpool FC…

…before heading to Manchester United’s Old Trafford where he has was met by Ed Gauntlett, assistant commercial manager at Concha y Toro, and Ginnie Dobson, relationship executive of Manchester United FC. The club donated a bottle and a shirt to the cause. After posing for pictures, Chris carried on his way squeezing in visits to a further four football stadiums including Everton, Wigan Athletic FC, Oldham Athletic and Rochdale FC.

On Sunday, Chris visited “all the B’s”, that is Bury, Bolton, Burnley, Blackburn, Blackpool football grounds, as well as Preston FC , Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town FC. Here Chris is seen posing with his wife Alison outside Blackburn FC on a what was a gloriously sunny day.

Now into the eighth day of the challenge, today saw Chris travel further north visiting Morecambe FC, Carlisle UTD and Newcastle UTD. This afternoon he will head to Sunderland before finishing this evening with a visit to Hartlepool FC and Middlesborough FC. The  Around the Grounds challenge, which will see Chris travel to all 91 of the UK’s league football grounds in 14 days without a car, has so far raised £10,900 for drinks trade charity, The Benevolent.
