Hanson launches Mmmhops beer brand

American 90s pop band Hanson has officially launched its own beer brand to celebrate its 21st anniversary.

The band from Oklahoma has also confirmed that all proceeds from the new beer-branded merchandise will go to the tornado relief effort. Although the beer, which will be called MnnHops, won’t go on sale until the autumn the trio have helped to design a range of brand-related merchandise to help raise money for the American Red Cross.

The funds will go towards the relief effort to help locals recover from the devastating twister which ripped through the Oklahoma city of Moore last week, killing 24 people and destroying homes and buildings.

Singer Taylor Hanson said in a statement: “The tragedy hits close to home, especially since this community was among the first places our band performed together. We are hopeful that the proceeds we can galvanise will play a lasting role in the recovery efforts.

“We have loved bringing people together around music for the last 21 years, and Mmmbop, which inspired the beer’s name, is a song about holding onto the friends and moments that count. We want to use this opportunity to make the release of Mmmhops one of those moments”.

Mmmhops, which is named after the band’s big hit “Mmmbop”, was created in partnership with Oklahoma-based craft brewer Mustang Brewing and will be officially launched along with the band’s sixth studio album, Anthem, and the subsequent 21st anniversary world tour.
