Norbert Dentressangle secures renewal with Maxxium UK

Following a competitive tender, leading premium alcoholic drinks distributor, Maxxium UK, has renewed its contract with Norbert Dentressangle until June 2014.

Part of the global sales and distribution alliance between Beam Inc. and Edrington, Maxxium UK is responsible for the sales and marketing of a portfolio of iconic brands including The Famous Grouse, Courvoisier, Sourz, Brugal, Laphroaig, Highland Park, The Macallan, Teachers, Jim Beam, Harveys and Stolichnaya. Headquartered in Stirling, Scotland, Maxxium UK is the fastest growing major spirits distributor in the UK off-trade and one of the top three largest UK spirits distributors (source AC Nielsen June 2012).

Having worked with Maxxium since the late 1990s, Norbert Dentressangle has overall responsibility for the company’s national logistics operation, which distributes more than five million cases per annum to retailers and wholesalers throughout the UK. With an important part of Maxxium’s sales transacted during the winter period, Norbert Dentressangle provides between 5,000-13,000 pallet spaces within one of its modern shared-user warehousing facilities. This, coupled with overflow storage during peak periods and a satellite storage operation in the Midlands during the winter months in order to mitigate the effects of severe weather, provides a robust yet highly flexible and cost-effective solution. The distribution operation is managed by Norbert Dentressangle on a 4PL basis, offering an optimal balance of utilisation, cost and service.

In addition to traditional warehousing and distribution, Norbert Dentressangle provides a range of contract packing and added value services, including re-packing products from large to smaller cases, preparing and packing gift packs, adding neck collars and building display units.

Under the new contract, the company has also introduced RF technology and a new bonded warehouse management system to support the continued delivery of efficiency improvements.

Gary Thomson, Business Services Controller for Maxxium said: “We have an extremely positive, healthy and honest relationship with Norbert Dentressangle and consider them a genuinely strategic business partner as we continue to evolve and grow.

“Their expertise and the quality of their workforce underpins an extremely reliable operation which consistently achieves the highest levels of service.”
