WSET launches first English wine class

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust is looking to build on record Jubilee sales with the launch of its first English wine consumer class next month.

Hosted by Julia Trustam Eve, marketing director of the English Wine Producers, the two hour class will take place on Thursday 12 July and run through a tasting of 12 English wines.

Designed as a “fun and informal examination of the category”, the session will explore the history and future development of English wine production, recent accolades, food matching suggestions and recommendations of wines to drink during the Olympic Games.

Ian Harris, chief executive of the WSET said: “Following on from the recent explosion of interest in this long-neglected category, we’re really excited to offer a new class to consumers which will explore English wine for the first time, and hope that this tasting will become a yearly event.”

The event will be held at the WSET headquarters in London from 6.30-8.30pm, with tickets priced at £20 each. To book, email courses@wset.co.uk, quoting booking number EWPR1201.
