Sambrooks to hand out freebies

Independent London brewer Sambrook’s is celebrating the release of its new dark beer by giving away free drinks at three London pubs this evening.

The brewery’s latest beer, Powerhouse Porter, will be available at the three Draft House pubs; The Westbridge in Battersea; the Northcote near Clapham Junction and the eponymous Tower Bridge outlet.

Each of the sites will have one cask, the equivalent of 72 pints each, to give away to drinkers today, 16 November, from 6.30pm.

Charlie McVeigh, owner of the Draft House and Sambrook’s brewer, Duncan Sambrook, will embark on a “pub crawl” to each establishment starting in The Westbridge at 6pm and finishing in Tower Bridge at 8.15pm, to chat to punters about the beer.

The Draft House was the first pub to start stocking Sambrook’s beer when it launched in 2008. The Powerhouse Porter is the brewer’s first dark beer and follows on from the success of its previous two bitters, Wandle and Junction.

McVeigh said: “I’ve been a fan of Sambrook’s ales since they started out. They share our passion for quality, distinctive ales and I am delighted to launch their first dark beer.”
