Israeli wines come to UK

Two Israeli producers are being launched in the UK for the first time ever today, courtesy of Nick Dobson Wines in Berkshire.

The independent merchant said that the addition of Vitkin and Margalit is part of the retailer’s new “comprehensive range of Israeli wine”.

Nick Dobson Wines says that the products will be available to the trade through Fusion Wines, while Nick Dobson Wines will distribute them to private customers.

Speaking of the new additions, Dobson said: “Israeli Wines deserve better recognition in the UK and I am delighted to offer clients this comprehensive range. These wines are not yet well known in the UK but my mail order operation offers the private client easy access to them.”

Vitkin Winery, which released its first vintage in 2002, is based in the country’s Coastal Plain and produces a cornucopia of varieties, including: Carignan, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Viognier, Colombard, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Muscat.

Margalit Winery, which calls itself one of the “first boutique wineries in Israel”, has been in production since 1998 and concentrates on single varietals and blends from a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah.
