Laithwaites Vinopolis venture a success

Laithwaites Wine’s newest store in Vinopolis is proving a success not only in terms of sales but also in attracting new customers to the brand.

Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, global wine director for Laithwaites, told the drinks business how the shop was attracting more than its fair share of interest.
“I think that the walk up trade that was in Borough Market already, is delighted to discover something new and something they didn’t know of before that has a diverse and exciting range. We’re also building up a trade among people who live further afield who are coming to discover us,” he said.
“Then you’ve got the weekly Borough Market business which means more and more people are coming to this part of the world and discovering the Laithwaite’s brand for the first time.
“We’re really delighted by the reception it’s had, sales are good, we’ve had lots of events held here and we want to make it a hub for people to meet, talk about wine and come to tastings.”
The heightened profile is something Laithwaite’s was always keen to capitalise on and the Vinopolis outlet is the perfect opportunity to capitalise on that.
“We certainly haven’t been the most visible brand in the past,” Howard-Sneyd continued.
“We’ve only ever had a few shops and they’ve been in quite quiet destinations and we really wanted to make a statement with this shop and become much more visible, and by all those criteria it’s doing incredibly well.”
