Cobra chief exec quits

Cobra chief executive Adrian McKeon has quit ahead of a likely break-up of the business, according to newspaper reports.

The Times says that McKeon, who joined Cobra in August 2007, quit suddenly to enable the UK side of Cobra’s operations to be taken over by Molson Coors. It is understood the brewer’s Indian division will be sold off to US investor Wilbur Ross.

According to the report, Indian entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria is said to be seeking between £180m and £200m for the company, despite a drop in British beer volumes.

McKeon was previously managing director of Beam Global Spirits & Wines UK.
