Nick Baile, the man who ran UK off-licence chain Oddbins for over a decade during the 70s and early 80s, died yesterday.
The ExCellar chain owned by former Oddbins director, Simon Baile, has been placed into administration.
Simon Baile has had to close two of the stores in his Excellar chain, including the Paris site.
Benoît Thouvenin, owner and managing director of Spirited Wines, has acquired the off-licence chain Nicolas UK from the Castel family for an undisclosed fee.
The unsecured creditors of Oddbins, which collapsed into administration at the end of March, will get some of their money back.
Simon Baile has admitted it was the back end of the Oddbins business that “killed” the off-licence chain.
