Bodega Pagos del Rey in Rueda, established in 2005, focusses almost entirely on the quintessential Rueda grape variety, Verdejo. And this is a lovely expression. Pale lemon-hued, the wine exudes white cherry and apricot fruit with an acacia honey note and a hint of minerality. Dry, the palate is light-bodied and linear in style with crisp acidity giving lovely balance. Nicely textured finish. A delightful wine to pair with bay scallops in a lemon-cream sauce over vermicelli. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW].
