Tasting notes:
Villa Saletta has been at the centre of Tuscan wine production for more that 1000 years. Its history can be traced back at least as far as 980AD, when the first accounts of winemaking were recorded. Nowadays, under the ownership of the Hands family, the estate is a blend of Tuscan tradition and modern technology. This wine, a Chianti Superiore DOCG, shows wild cherry, red plum and raspberry fruit with accents of spice and cedar. Dry and inviting, the palate flavours are framed by tangy acidity, fine-grained, grippy tannins and integrated alcohol. Well-defined and very spicy on the finish, this wine is a good partner for pappardelle with a red wine-rabbit sauce. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
