Tasting notes:

With about 30 ha of vineyards in the \'Golden Basin\' of Chianti in Greve and Panzano, Cafaggio is a name to conjure with. This Chianti Classico, is a \'classic expression\', produced solely from grapes grown in their own vineyards. Medium cherry-coloured, the wine is packed with wild cherry, pomegranate and dried strawberries with overtones of vanilla and cocoa powder. Mid-weight and nicely balanced with lively acidity and crushed-velvet tannins supporting the red fruits and gentle oak, the wine is a good pairing for--perhaps, surprisingly--Cajun chicken and prawn gumbo.
