Tasting notes:
There is no doubt that the blending of grapes from the different vineyards is the \'making\' of Querciabella\'s Chianti Classico. In Ruffoli, well-drained galestro soils add body and depth; Lamole, at around 700m has sandy soils with clay and schist, gives lightness and aromatic floral notes; Radda, with more rocks, provides dark fruit and dense tannin structure. This wine, deep ruby-hued, shows vibrant cherry and bramble fruit accented by cedarwood and cocoa notes and a lifted orange zest accent. Dry, but juicy, the ripe palate flavours are balanced by lively acidity and textured tannins. Medium-bodied and slightly warming on the finish, this is an excellent pairing for venison chops marinated in red wine, garlic, cardamom and a hint of soy sauce. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
