Tasting notes:
Dessimis is produced from grapes of an average age of 19 years, grown on ferrous clay-gravel soils in Isonzo, Friuli. The wine is aged on its lees for nine months, giving a creamy mid-palate texture. Lightly salmon-hued, the wine has griotte, cranberry and rhubarb fruit, and a smoky overlay. Medium-bodied, the palate flavours are well integrated and supported by medium, fresh acidity and a touch of astringent grip. The wine is a match for pork loin in a brandy-spiked, apricot and cream sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
