Tasting notes:
A seriously fine Sangiovese, this wine from the Poggio alle Mura vineyard in Banfi’s Montalcino estate is a delicious taste of top-end Brunello, yet won’t break the bank. There’s a lovely mix of ripe morello cherry fruit, along with a touch of sweet balsamic, prune and then fresh plums, followed by fine dry tannins, and a touch of cedar and toast on the mouth-watering finish. Lovely now, but certainly a wine that will benefit from cellaring for another 3-5 years. Patrick Schmitt MW
