Tasting notes:
Located in Straden in Vulkanland, Styria, Weingut Krispel’s vineyards are largely basalt-volcanic soils in the foothills of the extinct StradenKogel volcano. A quintessential Grauburgunder, this wine is pale yellow-gold with golden and green apple, almost Chardonnay-like, and lime zest, honey and caramel overtones. The palate is seamlessly integrated and intense, with lively acidity and a lingering, savoury finish. A really interesting wine that would match traditional Austrian cuisine, such as pumpkin and fresh sage risotto. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
