Tasting notes:
In 1899 Louis-Eugène Pannier founded Champagne Pannier in Dizy near Épenay. The House relocated to Château-Thierry in the western Marne Valley vineyards in 1937. A Union of Growers, COVAMA, took over in 1974 and Champagne Pannier became its flagship brand. This wine is mid-yellow-gold in colour with streams of small bubbles. Mature in style with ripe peach and pear fruit and grilled toast and vanilla undertones. Brut (8g/l r.s. and mid-weight, the palate flavours are balanced by brisk acidity and creamy mousse texture. Persistent across the mid-palate and with good length, the wine will be a good match for mussels in puff pastry and tomato-Champagne vinaigrette. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
